Initially, when being introduced to this project, my partner and I had to choose a topic that would interest us and relate to this year’s theme which is Turning Points in History; however we had little to no luck finding one at first. When finally we came across a TV show that mentioned prohibition and Al Capone, we then realized that it would be a very interesting topic to do for this year's theme.
After our topic had been chosen we began to conduct our research. We obtained various primary documents which included newsletters, pictures, government documents, recent books and websites. We would generate our project based upon reliable information that contained little to no bias; these were more useful in making our topic a reliable source of information. While generating our project, we managed our time wisely and evenly, and the sources we found would not only support our theme but also improve our website.
We believed that a website was the best fit for our project because it is easier to manage, we would be able to add videos and photographs, and the word limit was more convenient for us in terms of efficiency. We would also be able to work on it from different places and still manage to make it presentable.
Our history day topic relates to this year’s theme in many ways, not only is the 21st amendment the only amendment in the constitution that has repealed another amendment. But it was also the beginning to an era of organized crime in the United States. This year's theme is Turning Points in History and our topic is a revolutionary turn in how laws are made, executed and established in the United States.
